I ordered this for my mum for her 60th birthday do. She’s always feeling the cold, no matter what the heating is set to, and she wanted to look glamorous for her big night. When she opened the parcel, she literally gasped. She loved how incredibly soft it felt. We tried it on with her silver sequinned dress, and she looked like absolute royalty. The sizing is generous enough to wrap around comfortably without feeling tight or restrictive. She spent the whole evening dancing and mingling and didn't take it off once. It’s rare to find something that is both practical for keeping warm and actually stylish for an older lady, but this really ticked all the boxes. I might just treat myself to one.

I bought this shawl for a Great Gatsby themed charity gala my company was hosting. I didn't want to spend a fortune on a real fur piece that I'd probably only wear once, so this seemed like a good compromise. The colour is exactly as pictured, a lovely rich shade that went brilliantly with my champagne-coloured dress. It’s definitely cosy! I found myself keeping it on even inside the ballroom because the air con was blasting. The only reason I’m not giving it full marks is that the clasp was a little fiddly to figure out at first, but once I got it, it stayed put. For the price, it’s a cracking accessory to have in your wardrobe for posh dos.

I bought this for a Mardi Gras ball down in New Orleans. Even though it's the South, it can get surprisingly nippy at night during carnival season, especially when you're wearing a ballgown. This was the perfect accessory. It didn't hide the details of my dress but kept my shoulders warm enough while watching the parade go by. I was worried about marks since there's usually food and drink flying about everywhere, but I got a little smudge on the lining and it wiped right off with a damp cloth. It’s not the most high-end luxury item in the world, obviously, but for a fun event where you want to look the part without stressing over ruining a thousand-pound fur, it is absolutely spot on.

So, I bought this for a cruise I went on recently. We had a couple of formal nights, and the dining rooms on those ships are always absolutely freezing for some reason. This shawl was perfect. It packs surprisingly well; I just folded it gently in my suitcase, and it fluffed right back up when I took it out. I didn't even need to steam it. It sat nicely on my shoulders while I was eating dinner and didn't get in the way of my food. The colour is neutral enough that I could wear it with my black dress one night and my emerald green one the next. It’s just a great wardrobe staple to take travelling when you need to dress up but want to stay comfortable.

I got this for my bridesmaids for my December wedding. We were having an outdoor ceremony (risky, I know!), and I didn't want my girls turning blue in the photos. I ordered one first to test the quality, and I was sold straight away. It’s thick enough to actually block the wind but doesn't look bulky or clunky. They all said they felt like film stars wearing them. The lining is satiny and smooth against the skin, so absolutely no itching. One of my bridesmaids is actually planning to borrow mine for a New Year's Eve do she's going to, so I suppose that says a lot about how much they liked them! It’s a really versatile piece that glams up a simple dress instantly.
